Tucked behind a panel-beating workshop in Mzilikazi industrial area, Indlovu Coffee Roasters is a single-room operation with one drum roaster and one obsession: doing one thing very well.
Founders Bongani and Linda Moyo source green beans from Chipinge and Honde Valley, then apply slow-roast profiles they developed during five years working in Melbourne specialty cafés. Their espresso blend won a bronze medal at the African Coffee Excellence Awards last year.
Brooklyn-based café group Stay Awake placed its third order this quarter. “It’s not a charity buy,” said co-owner Devon Park on a video call. “It’s just very good coffee.”
Bongani is matter-of-fact about the work. “We’re a Bulawayo brand. That means we have to be twice as careful as Cape Town brands. People expect us to disappoint. We make sure we don’t.”
